We are Main Street!
The Danville Business Alliance (DBA) is a member-based organization originally incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as Tomorrow’s Vision, Inc. in 2001. In 2004 it changed its name to the Danville Business Alliance (DBA), and in 2006 the Internal Revenue Service determined it was a tax exempt organization under the provisions of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In 2007 Danville Borough was certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) as a Main Street community, and in 2008 the DBA was designated as the organization to implement the Main Street Program in Danville under a five-year grant program funded by the DCED.
Organized solely to serve charitable purposes, our activities are directed at promoting the revitalization of and reinvestment in downtown Danville, historical and architectural preservation, and promotion of the arts in our community.
Aiming for Success
Recognition of the success of our service has resulted in a growth in membership of over 100 businesses, ranging from multi-billion dollar corporations to small, family-owned retail establishments. Governed by a thirteen member Board of Directors, our day to day operations are the responsibility of its Executive Director.
Community Involvement
We work with local government, other charities and non-profit organizations to plan and coordinate various events within the Danville community which focus on Danville’s history, its eye-catching architectural and cultural heritage, and its exciting emerging artists’ community. This website was created to educate and interest the public about Danville’s historic past, current events and developments in the community, and its future plans for revitalization and progress.
Celebrating Danville in Style
The DBA sponsors and coordinates three annual community-wide events in collaboration with various other community organizations, such as the Montour County Historical Society, Danville Area School District, and the Danville Borough Council: the Spring Fling, the Fall Arts and Crafts Fair, and the Danville Holiday Event. The Spring Fling is an educational celebration of Danville’s culture and history; the Fall Arts and Crafts Fair emphasizes the work of local artists living in and around Danville; and the Danville Holiday Event focuses on the cultural significance of the holiday season and its historical context in the Danville community.
Preservation and Opportunities
To further its mission of preserving historic and architecturally significant structures in its downtown district, the DBA has developed façade design guidelines and standards with the cooperation of Danville Borough and the Danville Historical and Architectural Review Board. These guidelines and standards are also the basis of a state-funded façade grant program administered by the DBA, in which we have also partnered with local lending institutions to create opportunities for improvement of commercial structures in the central business district that is affordable and also meets the requirements of historic preservation.
